• What is micellar technology?

  Very similar to the micellar water that many people use on their faces, our products use micelles - small balls of lipid molecules from oils - to clean your skin without stripping your body’s natural oils. Micelles surround dirt particles, break them down & render them water-soluble, so that they can easily be cleansed away from the skin.

• Is this safe for sensitive skin?

  Yes! Our products clean thoroughly yet gently, without stripping your natural protective barrier, and they are pH balanced to align with your skin (whereas soap is not).

• How does it clean without drying out my skin?

  San Savon products use micellar complexes to clean thoroughly yet gently without stripping your body’s natural oils. They also include humectants to hydrate your skin and moisturizing ingredients to lock in moisture. The result is skin that is soft, smooth and supple with a soft sheen.

• What do you mean by soap-free?

  Our products clean without any soap, detergent or foam. They remove dirt, grime, sweat and dangerous germs but there is no lather whatsoever. Instead, our products use micellar complexes made from naturally derived and upcycled oils.

• What makes this better than traditional soap?

  Soap over-cleans your skin, stripping away your skin’s natural protective barrier along with your microbiome. And it has a high pH, which erodes the structure of your skin. Our products cleanse away everything you need removed without stripping your skin. They are microbiome-friendly, feeding your skin with prebiotics, and they are exactly aligned with your skin’s pH.

• Will it really remove dangerous germs?

  Absolutely. Our antimicrobial system, based on coconut-derived Caprylic Acid Ester, has been proven to remove 99.9% of dangerous bacteria (such as e. Coli and Salmonella), fungi and other microorganisms within 30 seconds of exposure.

• How does it protect the skin’s microbiome?

  Our antimicrobial system doesn’t kill germs - it weakens their cell wall attachment to your skin - and it is highly effective at removing dangerous and undesirable microorganisms. Your microbiome has evolved to live in symbiosis with your skin and is therefore harder to remove. While soap eliminates your entire microbiome, enabling invasive microorganisms to move in, our formula has prebiotics that feed your microbiome and help it thrive.

• Do they have synthetic fragrances?

  Our products don’t have any added fragrance whatsoever - synthetic or natural. The scent of our products come entirely from the essential oils in our formulations.

• What do they smell like?

  Like walking through a boreal forest - notes of fir, spruce, cedar and pine - with hints of geranium, Labrador tea or peppermint.

• What is the pH of your products?

  All our products have a pH between 4.5 and 5.5, which is exactly aligned with that of your skin. Soaps are generally very alkaline, with a pH of about 9-10.

• How long does one bottle / bar last?

  Our Hand Wash bottle lasts on average for 500 washes. Our Body Wash bottle lasts on average for 100 washes. Our Body Bar lasts on average for 100 washes.

• How do I refill the bottles?

  We sell refill pouches for both Hand Wash and Body Wash in 1 liter and 2 liter sizes. Simply open the pouch, pour into your bottle and reseal both the bottle and the pouch. Simple and very environmentally friendl
